Kory Ramkawsky ’13, Amanda Ribustello ’13 and David Baumwoll ’13 first advanced to the semi-final round after winning their preliminary rounds. They next defeated a team from Villanova University School of Law in the semi-final round and then defeated the University of Pittsburgh School of Law team in the Regional finals.
It is the first time that a Rutgers team has won the Regional Championship. Additionally, David Baumwoll received the 2013 Best Advocate Award, the competition’s highest individual honor.
The team will now compete in the National Competition trial rounds against some of the best mock trial teams in the country. The Nationals will be held in San Antonio on April 3-6.
The Rutgers team is coached by Christopher T. Karounos, Esq. ’06, a litigator and trial attorney at Archer & Greiner P.C., who said: “The team did a phenomenal job and the win was well deserved. Their tireless preparation and attention to detail will serve them well in San Antonio, and in their promising future legal careers.”
