Since 2006 our graduating classes have given a class gift as their legacy to Rutgers School of Law–Newark. The enthusiasm and desire of young graduates to thank, give back and support the law school is evident in their high participation rates.
In 2009 a new tradition was born: a class fund competition among graduating and current students to determine which class will have the highest participation rate, and consequently, bragging rights!
Young alumni and current students are now recognized in our annual Honor Roll of Donors for their gifts to their class funds and all other law school funds.
Participation rates by class for the 2011 competition are:
- Class of 2011: 30.2%
- Class of 2012: 19.0%
- Class of 2013: 15.4%
- Class of 2014: 16.7%

In addition to the 175 students who made a gift to their class fund, 21 professors and staff of the law school also participated, and BARBRI gave another generous donation to the graduating class of 2011. Overall student participation this year is 21%, up from 19.2% Since the competition began almost $10,000 has been raised, $6,900 of that was generated this year!
