Law School Librarian Susan Lyons Named to Government Printing Office Advisory Council
March 10, 2011 –Susan Lyons, Reference and Government Documents Librarian at Rutgers School of Law–Newark, has been appointed to the Depository Library Council (DLC), Washington, D.C. The appointment was made by the Public Printer of the United States, who serves as the CEO of the U.S. Government Printing Office.
The 15-member DLC, whose members are appointed to a three-year term, advises the Public Printer on policy matters relating to the Federal Depository Library Program. The FDLP provides public access across the U.S. to the published information of all three branches of the government through partnerships with more than 1,220 libraries.
At Rutgers–Newark Lyons oversees the Law Library’s federal and state depository collections. Her professional interests include digital preservation, authentication, and permanent public access to government information. She has served as chair of the Government Documents Special Interest Section of the American Association of Law Librarians, president of the New Jersey Law Librarians Association, and president of the Documents Association of New Jersey. Lyons received her M.L.S. from City University of New York-Queens College and her J.D. from Rutgers–Newark.
