Fall CLE Programs and Enhanced IPE Website From Rutgers Law Schools

September 06, 2011 –
The Rutgers Institute for Professional Education, a partnership between the Rutgers law schools in Newark and Camden providing high-quality, reasonably-priced CLE programs in convenient locations, has announced an extensive Fall 2011 schedule of seminars, skills workshops, and programs on substantive legal issues. In addition, the Institute has launched a new, enhanced website at www.rutgerscle.com

“The Rutgers law schools are uniquely qualified to offer high-quality programming to the New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania Bars, drawing upon their prominent faculty, experienced practitioners, and extensive legal resources,” said IPE director Andrew Rossner, Associate Dean for Professional Education. “At the same time Rutgers IPE provides members of the Bar, Rutgers law alumni, and current Rutgers law students with additional resources to develop their professional skills and networking opportunities.”

Typical of the high-level Rutgers IPE offerings is “The Roberts and Rabner Courts: Federal and State Constitutional Trends.” On September 19 from 5 – 7 pm at Rutgers School of Law–Newark, retired New Jersey Supreme Court Justice Deborah Poritz and Professor Frank Askin, Director of the Constitutional Litigation Clinic, will analyze recent significant decisions in both courts, providing insight into each court’s developing jurisprudence. The topics to be covered include election campaign finance, gun control, government secrecy and national security, school funding, freedom of speech and religion, and decisions affecting business. The course provides two CLE credit hours (NJ, NY, PA).

Fall 2011 programs include Ethics of Negotiation, Criminal Procedure Update: Federal and State Constitutional Developments, Bankruptcy for Non-Bankruptcy Attorneys, Essentials of the Rules of Professional Conduct, New Jersey Civil Practice, and Negotiation Strategies for Commercial Real Estate Transactions. Additional programs will be added in the coming weeks.

The Institute also offers customized, in-house programs as a cost-effective means for firms to provide CLE in the office.

The new website provides convenient features, including one-click registration and online transcript of programs taken through the Institute. Registration is open for all upcoming programs. For a full schedule and information on how to register, visit www.rutgerscle.com.
