Ava Majlesi ’07 Appointed Director of Development

July 09, 2010 –
Ava Majlesi, who had most recently served as Acting Director of Development, has been appointed Director of Development at Rutgers School of Law–Newark.

“I have worked closely over the past year with Ava on fundraising priorities and strategies,” said Dean John J. Farmer, Jr., “and am delighted that she will now lead the development office. Her deep commitment to the law school and creative thinking about fundraising enhance our efforts to secure the financial foundation that is essential to furthering our reputation for excellence and service.”

Majlesi is a 2007 graduate of the law school, where she was co-editor-in-chief of the Women’s Rights Law Reporter and a member of the Moot Court Board. In recognition of her academic accomplishments she received the Carol Russ Memorial Prize and the Lloyd F. MacMahon Fellowship. Majlesi is admitted to the bar in New Jersey and New York. After law school she worked as a research associate for the Institute on Education Law and Policy. She joined the law school development office in 2008.

Majlesi graduated summa cum laude from Rutgers College with a B.A. in psychology and political science. She is currently pursuing a master of public administration from the Rutgers–Newark School of Public Affairs and Administration.
