About the Office of Career Services
The Office of Career Services (OCS) at Rutgers School of Law–Newark offers a wide range of traditional and innovative services and programs to assist students and graduates in developing career goals and conducting an effective job search. Skills training programs, panels, workshops, on- and off-campus interview programs, and a web-based job bank are some of the services available through our office. The OCS also works closely with prospective employers to maximize recruitment opportunities.

> THE 6Ps OF THE BIG 3: USING FACEBOOK, LINKEDIN AND TWITTER FOR JOB SEARCHING. Thursday, November 5, 2009, 4:30 pm, the John J. Gibbons Lecture Hall (Room 090)
Social networking sites like Facebook, LinkedIn & Twitter (collectively, the “Big 3”) can be used by law students in their job searches to, among other things, market themselves to potential employers. The 6Ps of the Big 3 is a 90-minute presentation designed by Amanda Ellis Legal Search to provide an overview of how law students and attorneys can use the Big 3 to conduct a job search. The presentation focuses on the following 6Ps of Facebook, LinkedIn & Twitter, the three most popular social networking sites: Purpose, Picture, Profile, Privacy, Professional use, Phone applications. The program is filled with specific examples on how to use the sites to help your job search.

The American Bar Association, Section of Science & Technology Law, presents “Job Search Strategies for a Challenging Economy: Panel & Reception. Free food, beer & wine will be provided. Come learn more about job search strategies for finding opportunities in the Science and Technology law fields. A panel discussion will be moderated by Christine M. Grant, Chair of the ABA’s Science and Technology Law Section and CEO of InfecDetect, a company focused on preventing infectious disease through rapid diagnostic tests, protective gear and food safety products. She is also an alumna of Rutgers School of Law–Newark. Panelists include: Paul Arcioni, Chief Security Officer for the New Jersey Office of Technology for the State of New Jersey; Richard L. Field, a solo practitioner who focuses on financial systems, information technology and policy; and Sean F. Kane, Manager of Drakeford & Kane’s Intellectual Property Practice Group.
