NJ Bar Swearing-in Ceremony Set for December 2 at the War Memorial in Trenton
The law school will participate in the statewide swearing-in ceremony for newly-admitted attorneys that will take place at 10 am on Wednesday, December 2, at the War Memorial in Trenton. Since the New Jersey Judiciary has resumed its tradition of holding a statewide-ceremony, the law school will not have its own event. More information about the event is available here.
Alumni Association Annual Recognition Dinner on October 15
The Alumni Association held its Annual Recognition Dinner on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at the Short Hills Hilton. Ann Lesk ’77, Neil Mullin ’79 and Nancy Erika Smith ’80 received Distinguished Alumna/us Awards. Hon. Ronald Chen ’83 received the Fannie Bear Besser Award for Public Service. Class of 1959 Holds 50th Reunion

Dean John J. Farmer, Jr. Introduced to Alumni at the State Bar Meeting
The law school Alumni Association hosted a reception for all alumni, alumni guests, faculty, staff, and friends of Rutgers during the New Jersey State Bar Association’s 2009 Annual Meeting and Convention. Attendees had a chance to talk with incoming dean John J. Farmer, Jr. and Dean Stuart L. Deutsch, who returned to the faculty as a University Professor on July 1. The May 14 reception was held at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa.
Weintraub Lecture and Alumni Judges’ Reunion Dinner
The Hon. Dickinson Debevoise, Senior Judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey delivered the 27th Annual Chief Justice Joseph Weintraub Lecture on Wednesday, April 22. His topic was “Reflections Upon Herring v. United States: The Dangers of Narrowing Protections of Civil Rights in the Pressure Cooker Environment in Which We Live.” The Alumni Judges’ Reunion Dinner followed the lecture. Alumni Association Offers “Night at the Fights”
The Rutgers School of Law–Newark Alumni Association offered a “Night at the Fights” at the Prudential Center in Newark on Friday, February 27. In the main event, popular IBF and Ring Magazine Champion Tomasz Adamek defended his title against undefeated Jonathon Banks.
Alumni Mentoring Program
The Rutgers Law Alumni Mentoring Program co-sponsored with the student group Women’s Law Forum a Networking Panel Discussion at the law school on Wednesday, January 14. The alumni panelists represented a diverse range of practices. Among them were Appellate Division Judge Rudy B. Coleman ’74 and General Equity Judge Harriet Farber Klein ’73. The panel was moderated by M. Elaine Jacoby ’75, chair of the Mentoring Committee of the Alumni Association. For more information on the mentoring program, contact M.
