All members of the Association were invitied to attend the Annual Meeting held on June 20, 2012 at 6:30 pm at the Law School. At this time officers were elected for terms running from July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013 and trustees were elected.

All-Class Law School Reunion

Events included CLE program on “Informed Consent and Engagement Letter: How Should We Treat Our Prospective Clients,” a State-of-the-Law-School address by Dean John J. Farmer, Jr., and a reception with open bar and hors d’oeuvres. More on the day’s events can be found at ralumni.com/newarkreunion.

PILF Annual Spring Auction

The Public Interest Law Foundation (PILF) hosted its Annual Spring Auction on Thursday, March 8, 2012. All proceeds go to funding grants for law students working during the summer in unpaid public interest law internships.

The year’s live auction included such items as:

• Vacation Homes (week in Southampton or on the Outer Banks, NC)
• Incredible Experiences (helicopter rides, boat cruises around Long Beach Island)
• Sports Memorabilia (seats from former Yankee Stadium, signed bats and jerseys)
• Dinners with Professors and Administrators
• Tickets to Broadway Shows (Godspell, Rock of Ages, Spiderman)

Additionally, PILF awarded the first-ever PILF Award for Distinguished Public Service to New Jersey Supreme Court Justice Jaynee LaVecchia ’79.

SBA Barrister’s Ball, Newark Club

SPECIAL FEATURE: Presentation of the Young Alumni of the Year Award

The Student Bar Association’s annual Barrister’s Ball is the school’s signature event that brings together students, faculty, and the greater alumni community for a memorable evening of dining and dancing. This year the SBA chose to specifically reach out to alumni who have graduated within the past 10 years to thank and acknowledge those individuals for their continued support and commitment to the law school.

The SBA partnered with the school’s Alumni Association and Development Office to host an alumni cocktail reception at the beginning of Barrister’s Ball, held on Saturday, March 24, 2012. Following the reception, the SBA Executive Board presented its newest award, Young Alumni of the Year, to an outstanding and influential member of the alumni community. The recipient was Conway Ekpo ’07, an associate at Riker, Danzig, Scherer, Hyland & Perretti LLP.
